Incident Response is the New Black: A Must Have for Your Security Strategy
Incident Response is the New Black: A Must Have for Your Security Strategy
What you'll learn
The term that something is the “new black” was popularized in the fashion industry and is used when a type of clothing or color becomes part of the standard clothing repertoire for fashionably dressed people. Incident Response teams are now the new black in security organizations: a must have.
Why’s that? Because highly visible security breaches can have dire consequences for healthcare organizations, including lost revenue and stolen PHI, as well as negative headlines likely to damage and erode community trust.
None of it’s good. To reduce the impact off a breach, all healthcare organizations should have an active incident response (IR) plan in place – a policy that defines in specific terms what constitutes an information security incident, and provides a step-by-step process to follow when an incident occurs.
In this session, Karl West, CISO of Intermountain Healthcare, outlines the key components of and IR plan: preparation and planning; detection and analysis; containment; eradication and recovery; post incident activities. One thing’s for sure, as Karl will make clear: Fashion may come and go, but incident response is here to stay.
