There is plenty of data showing that older adults want to stay in their homes, and they are willing and interested in technology and services to assist them. However, this is a very complicated process for everyone involved. As we get older impairments such as visual, auditory, cognitive and mobility impact decisions on supporting aging-in-place. The challenges of what is covered under insurance or not, what things should be prioritized and how to navigate the healthcare industry to get the best and most appropriate care become extremely important.

Bill is Director of United Spinal Associations Spinal Cord Injury Resource Center. He served twenty-five years as a municipal police officer and training sergeant. An off-duty motorcycle accident resulted in T-7 paraplegia in 1999. Bill brings his past varied experiences and twenty years living with SCI to his Information Specialist team which helps support consumers who contact the Spinal Cord Injury Resource Center after injury or disease onset.
As a returning Executive Council member of the North American SCI Consortium for 2020, Bill plans to continue to expand the growing NASCIC membership throughout the SCI community and assist as needed with existing and future project-based initiatives of NASCIC. Further participation in and reach of NASCIC will further expand the consumer voice of people living successfully with spinal cord injury. . He lives with family in Virginia Beach, VA and telecommutes in his work with United Spinal.
