Mr. Adam W. Culbertson is currently the HIMSS, Innovator-In-Residence. He leads the HIMSS developer and data science initiatives. He led the vision for Dev4Health and the Developer Innovation Lab at HIMSS 18. In addition, he is a nationally recognized speaker on the topic of patient data-matching.
He previously worked with the Office of the National Coordination and the Chief Technology Officer at HHS to advance patient data matching on while working on the patient matching. Mr. Culberson has years of biomedical research experience in both industry and academia. Previously, he was biomedical informatics fellow at the National Library of Medicine He has completed a master’s degree in health informatics from Indiana University of Indianapolis. He also completed a master’s degree from Indiana University of Bloomington in Human Computer-Interaction Design. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in biology and chemistry from Indiana University at Bloomington.

Ian currently serves as the HIMSS Applied Innovation Manager, Office of the Chief Technology & Innovation Officer, at HIMSS. His role is to execute on activities to develop content on Health IT systems, and provide project management, oversight and implementation of HIMSS-led activities, tools, resources, and initiatives. Ian is an accomplished professional with 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry ranging from Outpatient Clinical Management and Facilities Management at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Electronic Medical (Health) Records management at athenahealth, and Project Management with non-profit/Membership oriented groups with a focus on Patient (Consumer) Engagement, and currently with the HIMSS Innovation Committee and Community.
